CARTESIAN DIVER

A Cartesian Diver or a Cartesian Devil. It is a classic experiment to do at home it simply explains the Archimedes Principle. The LAW OF BUOYANCY.

LIQUID OR SOLID

It is a mixture which behaves like a liquid and solid both . It is an amazing experiment to do at your home with children as it do not require anything expensive and rare.

FUEL CELL

It is a Eco-friendly device that produces electricity without any pollution. It converts the fuel such as hydrogen, alcohol, gasoline, or methane into electricity.

GAUSS RIFLE

It is a very simple and easy to make tool which can be called as a simple gun. It is made only by a magnet and 7-8 ball bearings or more than that.

Barometer

It is a very simple, effective and helpful tool as it is easy to make and too a very cool project far any science fare. it tells us about the air pressure outside..

Fuel Cell

It is a Eco-friendly device that produces electricity without any pollution. It converts the fuel such as hydrogen, alcohol, gasoline, or methane into electricity. Below is the video of Fuel Cell made by the owners:

It is so simple that it can be made in home in just 10 minutes.

So, the ingredients are:
  • Platinum coated nickel wire or platinum wire of around one foot.
  • Small piece of wood or plastic.( TO SUPPORT THE CATHODE AND ANODE )
  • 9 volt battery clip.( TO ATTACH THE BATTERY )
  • 9 volt battery.
  • Transparent tape.
  • Water.
  • Voltmeter.

To make it, follow the steps:
  1. The platinum coated wire is cut into two 6 inch long pieces and attach them to the spring. These will be electrodes of the fuel cell.
  2. Strip the plastic insulation off the wire and twist the bare battery lead wires onto the electrodes we have just made. Now attach the battery clip and two wires to the electrodes. These wires will be later used to attach voltmeter.
  3. Then tape the electrodes securely to the wooden piece.
  4. Now, tape the wooden piece to a glass containing water so that only the electrodes are inside the water and not the twisted wire connection.
  5. Now, the red wire is connected to the positive terminal of the voltmeter and the black is connected to the negative terminal of the voltmeter.
  6. Make sure that the voltmeter reads 0 volts at this point. There may be a deflection such 0.01 volts but that can be neglected.
Your home-made fuel cell is ready.

Gauss Rifle

It is a very simple and easy to make tool which can be called as a simple gun. It is made only by a magnet and 7-8 ball bearings or more than that.
Below is the video of Gauss Rifle made by the owners:

To make a Gauss Rifle, we need:
  • Rare earth magnets.
  • Steal ball bearings.
  • Wooden plank.

Now comes the procedure:
  1. Take a long wooden plank and put the rare earth magnets on the plank.
  2. Place 2 ball bearing on one side of each magnet in such a way that they are in a line and touches the magnet.
  3. Now, place one magnet on the other side of the magnet slightly away from the magnet so that it can't be pulled back by the magnet.
  4. To fire, nudge the single bearing so that the ball bearing rolls towards the magnet.
The home-made - Gauss Rifle is ready.

Liquid or Solid

It is a mixture which behaves like a liquid and solid both . It is an amazing experiment to do at your home with children as it do not require anything expensive and rare.

This can be made in few minutes

So the things you require are :
  • Cornstarch 1/4 cup
  • Water 1/8 cup
  • Bowl

To make it follow the following steps:
  1. Take a bowl
  2. Pour the cornstarch in it ( 1/4 cup )
  3. Now pour water ( 1/8 cup )
  4. If needed more water pour it till all the cornstarch gets wet
  5. Your experiment is ready
Observation

The mixture looks like liquid and feels like liquid when stirred slowly and if you hit it hard it will feel like a solid.

Cartesian Diver

A Cartesian Diver or a Cartesian Devil. It is a classic experiment to do at home it simply explains the Archimedes Principle. The LAW OF BUOYANCY. Below is the video of cartesian diver made by owners:

This experiment can be made in 5 minutes

So, the things you require are:

  • A 2 litre transparent bottle
  • A pen's cap
  • Clay
  • Water

To make it follow the following steps:
  1. Take a pen's cap
  2. Take some plasticine ( clay ) and put it on the bottom of the pen's cap
  3. Now fill the bottle with water
  4. Put the pen's cap in the bottle filled with water and close it
  5. Now squeeze the bottle's wall and observe
Observations

When we squeeze the wall of the bottle the pen's cap ( diver ) goes down and when we release the wall it comes up.

Why does it happen?

When we squeeze the wall it goes down because the pressure inside the bottle increases and the air bubble inside the pen's cap get compressed which results in the change of the overall density of the pen's cap as a result the density of water decreases and the density of the pen's cap gets greater than the density of the water and therefore the pen's cap sinks.
When we release the wall the compressed air in the pen's cap expands as a result the buoyancy of water increases and the pen's cap rises up.

Barometer

It is a very simple, effective and helpful tool as it is easy to make and too a very cool project far any science fare. it tells us about the air pressure outside.

As it is a simple project and therefore needs very little time to make it.

So , the things you require are:
  • An empty jar
  • A balloon
  • A straw

To make it follow the steps below:
  • Take a balloon and blow it so that it gets stretched
  • Now cut the balloon in half and throw away the neck piece
  • Now take the empty jar and place the half cut balloon on the top of the jar and see that there are no wrinkles on the balloon
  • Now take the straw and place it on the balloon with the help of tape as shown in the image
 Observation

When the outside temperature decreases, the air pressure outside is more as compared to the air pressure inside the barometer as we know the movement of air is from high pressure to low pressure, as a result the air outside compresses the jar and the balloon blows up and the straw goes up indicating the air pressure and vice versa

    Fire proof balloon

A fire proof balloon is a balloon which will not burst when taken close to fire it is a very interesting and cool experiment to do at home with children. below is the video made by the owners:

It is a very simple project and need a time of just 2 minutes to make

So the things you need are:
    • 2 balloons
    • 1 candle
    • match box
    • water

To make it follow the steps given below :
    1. Take 1st balloon, inflate it and tie it.
    2. Take the 2nd balloon and pour some water about 40ml - 60 ml or 1/4 cup ( the balloon shown in the figure has water in it ).
    3. Now lit up the candle and take both the balloons near the fire 1 by 1 and observe what happens.
    Observation

we observe that the ba;lloon which doesn't contain water burst away whereas the balloon containing water doesn't burst .

    Why did this happen ?

The reason behind this is that when the balloon containing water is heated , first the water gets heated and till the water boils the balloon will not burst.

    Gluep

Gluep is a kind of plastic which can be made in our homes with just some glue, water and laundry borax.

Now the question arises that how to make this gluep?

So to make gluep, the things you would need are:
    • 1 teaspoon of laundry borax.
    • 1 tablespoon of white glue.
    • Food colouring (optional)
    • Two cups
    • Spoon
    • Water
    Procedure:
    1. Firstly take a bowl, add one tablespoon (15 ml) of white glue and add one cup of water and mix them around for around 30 seconds. During this process you can add a few drops of food colouring if you wish.
    2. Now in the second bowl add one teaspoon of laundry borax and mix it with 3 cups (75 ml) of water and stir it until maximum borax is dissolved.
    3. Now pour the mixture of borax into the glue solution and stir it to make a soft lump.
    4. Knead this this soft lump with your hands for a couple of minutes.
The soft lump that you have got is the Gluep.

Make sure to keep the Gluep in a air tight container because if it is exposed to air then the water of Gluep will evaporate and Gluep will become stiffer.
